Large-scale installation "MELANCHOLY"
In her latest series of paintings “MELANCHOLY”, the artist focuses on creating places that are secluded, alienated, sometimes lonely and existential, as well as on imagining their architecture and fictional scenarios, offering the viewer the role of an observer. It is loneliness and daily life that provokes a melancholic atmosphere in the painting, urging the viewer to look for logic and visual elements of painting that acknowledge the melancholy. The paintings surprise you and speak to you with their amplitude and scale that continues the tradition of Latvian monumental painting. To reach full and clear story lines that interlink the paintings of the installation, the author has made an artist's book, where in the shape of records and stories of nostalgic memories, small fragments of texts have been compiled. The narrative captured in these fragments links them to one of the paintings.

I NEVER HEARD ANYONE
NEITHER RETURNING, NOR LEAVING.
I WATCHED IN THE SWIMMING POOL OF THE HOLIDAY HOUSE
THE NUMB WATER,
WHERE EVEN TREES WERE SCARED TO APPEAR AS SILHOUETTES.
ALL AROUND IT WAS CALM.. THERE WAS NO WIND.
I WATCHED THE SWIMMING POOL
IN BOTH LIFE AND PAINTING
AND I GOT OVERWHELMED BY THE THOUGHT
THAT SOMEONE – WITHOUT ME HEARING IT – HAD JUST GONE INTO THE HOUSE.

Gleznojumi pārsteidz un uzrunā ar savu vērienu un lielo formātu, kas turpina Latvijas monumentālās glezniecības tradīcijas. Lai panāktu pilnīgas un skaidras sižetiskās līnijas, kas savā starpā savieno instalācijas gleznojumus, autore veidojusi mākslinieka grāmatu, kurā nostalģisku atmiņu fiksāciju un stāstu veidā apkopoti nelieli tekstuāli fragmenti, kuros ietvertais vēstījums piesaista tos kādam no gleznojumiem.
